The Ancient History
The signet ring is one of the oldest forms in jewelry: a seal worn on the hand, engraved with a mark that stood for its owner, pressed into wax or clay to sign what mattered. Portraits across centuries show men with signet rings worn on the little finger, the face turned outward, and the form has never left. Signet rings remain a men's signet ring tradition by history, worn today by anyone with something to stand behind.
This gold signet ring draws its face from the Ethiopian healing scrolls, protective manuscripts written by priest-scholars for one named person. The eight-point structure references the wings of four guardian archangels, and the four stones sit as watchers, a motif of vigilance in Ethiopian sacred art. Where the old scrolls guarded one life, this face carries the same geometry as a personal seal.
A custom signet ring in the oldest sense: the four stones are chosen by the wearer, the back can be engraved, and the whole reads as yours alone as a protective talisman. Worn on the hand it suits, including as a pinky signet ring in the classic placement.
